Types of lawn mowers

A lawn-mower is a machine that uses rotating blades to cut a lawn to a length. Lawn using a blade that rotates around a vertical axis, are known as rotary mowers, while those employing a blade assembly that rotates about a horizontal axis are known as cutters, drum or roller.

Many different models were made, each tailored to a particular purpose. The smallest types, driven by a human being, they are suitable for small residential lawns and gardens, while larger, self-contained, Rider are suitable for large lawns, and the largest, multi-gang mowers pulled behind a tractor, are designed for large expanses of grass such as golf courses and municipal parks.

This is type of lawn mowers:

Reel Mowers
Called the cylinder mower, in many countries, the reel mower has a roller blade attached horizontally to the desired height of cut. While this is a quick spin of the reel blades that force the grass past the cutting bar. Each blade in the reell form a spiral around the axis of the reel, and the set of rotating blades, describes a cylinder. Of all the mower and a properly adjusted reel mower is the cleanest cut the grass, and this allows the grass to heal more quickly. An action is often compared with the scissors, however, need not contact the blades of the reel with the horizontal bar of the court. If the distance between the blades is less than the thickness of the grass, a clean cut can still be done.

There are many variations of the reel mower. Push Mower have no engine and are used on small lawns. The mower is pushed, the sprocket gear quickly turn the drum. Typical cutting widths 12 to 20 inches (510 mm). The mower "push" is also used by in-band pulled by a tractor. Individual mowers are arranged in a vee behind the tractor with the track of each mower is slightly overlapping the mower in front of him. Gang mowers are used in large areas of grass, such as sports fields or parks.

A gasoline engine or electric motor can be added to a reel mower feed roller, wheels, or both. A typical arrangement for residential lawns is the motor rotation, while the operator pushes the car together. The electric models can be wired or wireless. Some variants have only 3 blades in a reel spinning at high speed, and these models can cut the grass grew too long to push ordinary mowers. A type of reel mower, already obsolete, has developed a version of the traditional side of the wheel and push mower was used on residential lawns. An internal combustion engine, sitting on the cylinder casting and drove the wheels, though usually a belt. The wheels, in turn has led to the reell, as in the push mower.

Rotary mowers
A Rotary mowers rotates around a vertical axis.

Gasoline Mowers
Most push mowers are powered by internal combustion engines. These motors can be a two-stroke or four stroke, petrol (gasoline) or other liquid fuels. Internal combustion engines used with lawn mowers, usually a single cylinder. Power generally ranges from two to seven horsepower (kW 1,5-6,75). The motors are usually driven and require a carburetor manual crank to start them, even if electric starter is offered on some models. Some mowers have a control on the handlebars of the gas with which the operator can adjust the speed of the engine. Combines a fixed, pre-set the motor speed. Petrol Lawn has advantages over more power electric cutters and taken away. However, they create substantial pollution and its engines need regular maintenance such as cleaning or replacing the spark plugs and air filter.

Electrical Mowers
Electric lawnmowers are divided into models with wireless and cable. Both are relatively quiet, usually produce less than 75 decibels, while a gasoline mower can be raised to 95 decibels or more.

1. Corded electric mowers are limited in range by its power cord to the right, which may restrict their use extends across meadows with more than 100-150 meters from the exit nearest available energy. There is the additional danger with these machines accidentally cut the rope, stopping the machine and users can put at risk of becoming a dangerous electric shock. The installation of an RCD (circuit breaker), the production can reduce the risk of shock. In the United States market by the summer of 2008, a wire cutter from a manufacturer's estimated cost the same as an entry-level internal combustion mower ($150-200), with significantly increased reliability, cost significantly lower property and a significant reduction in carbon emissions.

2. Cordless electric lawnmowers are powered by a variable number (usually 1-4) 12-volt rechargeable batteries. Typically batteries means more time for execution and/or power. Batteries may be in the mower or abroad. Look beyond the empty battery can be replaced with the batteries recharged. Mower has the maneuverability of a gasoline lawn and the environmental impact of electric wire, but are more expensive and are available in models with lower (especially self-propelled) than either.

Hover mowers
Hover mowers are powered rotary push that use a turbine above the spinning blades to drive air downwards, creating a cushion of air that lifts the car above the ground. The operator can easily move the machine on which it floats on the lawn. Hover mowers are necessarily light in order to achieve the air cushion and typically have a plastic body with an electric motor. The most significant disadvantage, however, is the usability of heavy rough terrain or on the margins of fields, such as compressed air cushion is destroyed by the great disparity between the frame and the floor.

Robotic mowers
Automower can mow up to 2 acres and is contained by a thin border around the lawn that defines the area to be mowed. The robot uses this wire to locate the edge of the area to be cut and in some cases, to locate a recharging dock. Robotic lawn can hold up to 5 acres (20,000 m2) of grass. Robot lawn mowers are increasingly sophisticated, are generally self-docking and contain rain sensors nearly eliminating human interaction for mowing. Several robots can be tools used to cut an even larger.

Riding mowers
Riding mowers are a great alternative for larger lawns. The operator is equipped with a seat and controls on the grass and literally "walks" on the machine. Most use the horizontal rotating blade system, though usually with multiple blades. A common form of Ride-on mower is the lawn tractor. These are usually designed to resemble a small agricultural tractor with the cutting deck mounted amidships between the front and rear axles. The units of these tools are in various categories. The most common transmission for tractors is a manual transmission. The second type of transmission is a form of continuous variable transmission called the hydrostatic transmission.

These transfers take many forms, from pumps to drive the different engines, which may include a gearbox, to fully integrated units containing a pump, motor and speed reduction. Hydrostatic transmissions are more expensive than mechanical drives, but are easier to use and capable of transmitting more torque to the wheels, compared to a typical mechanical transmission. The drive type is less common and more expensive electricity.
